On a serious note, are you sure it's a good idea to encourage users to post pictures of themselves?
Red flags are coming up as I read this topic... Names to faces to the internet to this, and walla! Blackmail material.
I don't see why it would be a bad thing. Its more threatening to have your phone number listed in the yellowpages, or for you to have an internet subscription to your ISP, since they have been known to be exploited for personal information. A simple picture will not hurt anything. Anything can be found on the internet, including your full name, ssn, age, and address, even if you didn't post it. A simple picture is harmless when you look at the other things named above. Ask apollo about this. He knows more about this sort of stuff than I do, but at least I understand the basics.
It really depends on the definition of "on the internet" and the specific person. Many times, its easy to get this information simply off their myspace or such websites. In rare instances, though, I have been known to go as far as to social engineer (thats the sexy way of saying "trick") people's ISPs into giving me their address, phone number, and other details. I've only really gotten two social security numbers, but I'd rather not talk about that here. As various news sources, your parents, and your school tells you, your personal information in the 21st century is severely threatened. Be careful when posting your personal information. |

Iz me zombie pic! Its one of the few pics Ive intentionally posed for lol.  Sorry for it being small. I had to attach it. If you'll look behind me you'll see my room. Horribly clean with a bunch of things that you normally would never see together (weight bench beside world map lol). I never use my room so thats my excuse for its cleanliness and absurd decor. |
