So let me give you a proper greeting:
Welcome to Shifted Perspectives!
This site is owned and run by Apollo and The Adfeng. We are both experienced psions who have owned and run our sites for numerous years. Apollo serves as our techie and The Adfeng as an admin and teacher. We are also helped with a few moderators who have been chosen for helpfulness and kindness to the members.
This site was the combination of PsiWorld (JediKaren's site) and Psi Links (Apollo's site) and well as ideas taken and reshaped from other sites. We are an all around psi site, meaning we have no focus on a group or skill or theory. We are only focused a view that is more scientific and logical, rather than based on belief.
You will find many kinds of psions that come from all over the world with different skill levels, experiences and cultures. Some of these psions are famous among us and we ask that you give them the respect that you would give to me or Apollo. This does not mean you shouldn't respect the rest of the members.
Because this is not a solo focused site on newbies, we have created a board just for you! There are some rules and expectations we wish for you to follow.
So please, read on and find out how to become the perfect the newbie and the best psion you can.
Here is some helpful information for you:
How To Start TrainingThis is not an official article and is not on the main site, but rather a basic guideline of how to get started and why.
1. Read
The first step is to read. Read read read! Read everything that is on this site. Go to other sites and read there. Read all the articles, even if you don't understand them. Read the FAQ. Read the glossary. There is plenty to read. You should spend a couple of days reading the main site. Read carefully and slowly and you'll understand. Pay attention to skills that you find interesting and reread them.
2. Ask Questions
Now that you have a very basic understanding of psionics, you have questions. Your next step is to the forum and look around. A lot of people have questions and they tend to post their questions. So look around the boards and look for your questions. Make sure you look at the FAQ (
http://shiftedperspectives.net/faq.php) on the main site because that has a lot of the basic questions that newbies ask a lot. Feel free to post a question or comment on a thread. If you can't find your question on the boards, go ahead and post yours.
Please be patient as we make take a day or two to get around to answering it. If we aren't answering it in that time, it probably means we don't understand your question. Look at the question again and see if you can make it clearer. The better your post is, the better answers you'll get.
3. Start With Psi Balls
With a basic understanding of psionics and some of your questions answered, you are ready to start practicing. It is recommended that you start with feeling psi, gathering psi, and making a psi ball. These are basic skills that you will use in all other skills. If you are have trouble, read the articles and FAQ and threads again before you make a thread. You aren't the only one to have problems.
4. Form a Routine
After you have started using psi, you can form a routine to your practicing. This is very important. It will help you get into a habit of using psionics and allow you to advance. Note that you don't have to practice for long periods. Five minutes here and there will do just fine. Just make sure you practice every day and practice safely.
5. Explore
Psi balls are pretty cool for a week or two, but you'll want to do something else. Pick a skill, read the articles again, and get going! Remember to practice every day and ask questions. You'll get the hang of it. Practice with other psions and talk to us! We love to chat with newbies and help you.
6. Share
Share with us how you are doing. Make a log and post your progress. If you think you have a tech that is new or you have a better way of explaining something, post it! We would love to hear what you have to say. Maybe you really do have a new way of doing a skill and we could all learn from you. Maybe your explanation will help other newbies. We encourage you to write your own article, but pm me if you want it on the main site.
7. Have Fun
Psionics doesn't have to be school or piano practice. Have fun! Joke around. Play around with psi. Psi is fun! It's a bit hard to have fun at first, but you'll learn how fun it is to send and receive energy. Be safe, but go ahead, go wild.
There is more to psionics than this, but this will help you get started.

How to Ask for help:Threads:
When making a thread for help on a skill or whatever, please make sure you think out your post carefully. Include details such as past experience, problems with the skill, what you have done so far, what method you are using, and what results you are getting or not getting. This will help us answer your call more thoroughly and give you a better answer. We also ask that you keep up with your thread and answer any questions we might have as soon as you can.
Please make sure you are polite in your post. Please and thank you are always nice. Do not demand anything and make sure your title for the thread is equally polite. Titles such as "Read now!" or "HELP!" make us want to hit our heads against a wall. Please spell check and grammar check your work. Do not use chat spelling ("u" "r" "wat") in your threads or titles. It's annoying and makes you look immature and lazy. We do not have to help you. We just want to. There is a difference. Being polite will get you better and faster results.
Pms:
Or known as private messages. We welcome you to pm us, but we have a few common rules we wish you to follow. Like the threads, include as much information as you can about your need. Also be polite. Treat this like you are calling us on the phone. Use proper language. Also check on your pms for follow ups, but understand that we have a life and we may not get to you right away. Some of us have a LOT of pms and may not be able to get to you for a day or two.
Iming:
It is advised that you ask us in a pm if you can add us to your im. If you want to im us, but our info isn't on our profile, pm us with your request. Many of us are lonely, bored, and would love to help you. But asking first is always the best way to go. When you do add us and start talking to us, please be polite and proper. Try to not use one liners and wait for us to respond before you im a lot of talk. Also be aware that we have lives and we may be talking to a lot of people or doing other things like homework. If we say we are busy, that means we're busy. If the "busy" or "away" sign is on our im, that probably means we want to be left alone. Although everyone is different and everyone has different ways of handling iming. Best to ask us.
