Now introducing the ShiftedPerspetives Psionic Research Academy(Pronounced S Double P Rah or SPPRA)!  This is going to be a test run of what may be to come.  Let me explain a bit about the goals of this.

  • Further the intelligence in the field of psionics of our members, both veteran and new
  • Promote proper article length and format when submitting finished research
  • Give a boost to the activity of the forum
  • Encourage experimentation in psionics
  • Attempt to apply the scientific method to psionics in the experiments

This will be a very simple procedure.  You sign up, and every two weeks you will receive a new subject.  On the first day of sign-up, I will issue you a topic.  This topic can range anywhere from complete basics to more advanced subjects.  You have up to two weeks to complete the research on that certain subject.  You are encouraged to ask other psions, perform experiments of your own(which will be a requirement), and do online research on other people who have experimented with this subject before.  If you cannot find anything, then you will be going into the experiments blind.  If you believe the topic is dangerous to experiment with, please contact me before proceeding.

Your article must be at least 300 words and contain all of the following:

  • An experiment that you have performed personally, albeit an original experiment or one that was performed before
  • At least one online/person source on your topic
  • As with all articles and papers, there needs to be somewhat of a introduction, body, and end.  This isn't designed to be difficult.  In your introduction talk about your topic, a brief explanation of what you found, and introduce your experiments that you performed or researched.  In your body go into more depth about everything.  In your conclusion, give a summary of your experiments and results.  Give a well defined outcome and tell what you have learned.

There will also be a few rules with SPPRA.  These are:

  • If you are unable to complete the article/research paper in two weeks, you must notify an administrator(The Adfeng) that you are unable to finish the article/research paper.  The administrator may grant you additional time to complete the research paper.  If, after given an extension, you are unable to complete the article/research paper, you must again notify an administrator(The Adfeng).  This would be your last extension.  Extension time given is to the discretion of the administrator, but you may suggest the length of time you need to have.  This should be done in the form of a private message.  If you do not complete the article/research paper in time, you will be penalized by being unable to receive a new topic for two weeks.  After two weeks you may request for an additional topic.
  • You must not plagiarize another's work.  If you are using material from another website, article, etc. you must do so with proper permission(if required) and proper citation.  Please use APA format for the article/research paper, if possible.  If you are found to plagiarize another's work or research, you may be permanently removed from SPPRA.  The choice of appropriate action is from the administrator.
  • You must provide factual information when complete the article/research paper.  If you are found to provide incorrect information willingly, you will face the same penalties as if you have plagiarized.
  • You agree that ShiftedPerspectives may use the article/research paper you have produced on its website, for non-profit purposes only.  ShiftedPerspetives will not attempt to sell or gain profit from the work you have done.  Any work submitted to SPPRA may be used by ShiftedPerspetives, even if you decide to leave SPPRA.  The usage rights will still be the same as before.

This is not a formal science research paper.  However, keep in mind that it needs to have somewhat adequate grammar structure and punctuation.  Do the best you can before you submit it.

This thread will be used for sign-ups only.  Each individual will create a thread in this board labeled as such:  "(Researcher Name) Research", where (Researcher Name) is the person's account name on ShiftedPerspetives.

ShiftedPerspetives and SPPRA reserve the right to modify the rules and other things on this post, but also must notify members of SPPRA if they do.

Sign-ups start today, 1/31/2012.  As soon as you sign up(or close to it) I will PM you your subject.  Please PM me once you are finished researching and have finished your article/research paper.

If you wish to sign up, please copy and paste the following and input your name:

I, ____________, wish to become a participant in the ShiftedPerspectives Psionic Research Academy(SPPRA).  I will to the best of my ability attempt to complete the given subject within two weeks of the assignment.  I have read the rules of SPPRA and agree to these rules.  I understand that at any time, I can withdraw from SPPRA, but in doing so the articles/research papers I have provided will remain and SPPRA has permission to use them as stated in the rules.  If I have any questions, I understand I can ask an administrator(as of now, The Adfeng) questions that I may have.

By typing "I, ________ wish to join SPPRA", I am confirming that I have read the entirety of the rules and wish to participate in SPPRA.  Type that in the following blank line below:

This seems very useful to help me get some practice and order my results and findings in a critical, scientifically somewhat valid manner.

However, there is one question I have: I can, at this point, do *nothing*. That is to say, I have as of yet made no findings that lead me to conclude that I'm actually capable of doing anything on any field. I'd love to sign up, but with no definitive abilities and/or experience, I'm having some doubts about how useful I might be for the purpose of the SPPRA. Do you think it will be useful for me to sign up? If so, I'll gladly do so Smiley

Also, I have a different question: will the assignments be adjusted to the skill level of the one performing the assignment, or will they be delivered at random, with only the results varying across different skill levels?

If it looks good, you'll see it.
If it sounds good, you'll hear it.
If it's marketed right, you'll buy it.
But if it's real... You'll feel it.

If you can not do anything, that is fine.  I will attempt to assign topics to people according to their skill level; however, that does not mean to say I will not assign a "harder" topic to a newer psion and an "easier" topic to an experienced psion.

This is not about "usage".  It is about the community as a whole advancing our knowledge of psionics through research that individuals will perform.  Also, another individual at a different time may also have the topic that you have researched.  As I stated before, this is a beta version of how this will work, if it all works well.

If you wish to join, send me a PM with the above listed information requested, and then you will receive a topic.
