I am rather new to this site, and I have decided to experiment with psi energy today.
I figured i might be able to feel energy by meditating. I got on the floor, crossed my legs and sat with my eyes closed, controlling my breathing. I tried this twice, and got no results.
The third time, I began to feel a tightening in the area above my stomach, and my hands started to become cold. I also noticed that I saw a semi-bright white light, even though my eyes were closed.
I put my hands to the tightened area, and tried to channel the energy into them to make a psi ball. Before I could get further, a siren rang and broke my concentration.
I also noticed I had a slight headache.

Am I performing this correctly, or am I making a mistake?
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you trying to sense or make a psi-ball?
The ability to sense is always there, but must be found first.  Everybody has the sense, just like the other five, it's just not used and you've been taught to ignore it all of your life.
Another thing, your subconicous is sort of like the midde-man to everything, so first you need to try and establish communication with it.  After that, simple excersises to get your subconcious to display to you the information picked up by the 6th sense is required.  Peebrain wrote some great articles on the sub-c; They can be located either on Psipog or now on Psionics Online (I think).
Also, yes, you are doing a good excercise, but you just need to establish that sub-c communication to get more clear and better results.

I am trying to sense psi.
I haven't had much luck, that was the furthest I got. Even then, it wasn't that strong.

Well, look at it this way; How many other people in the entire world have even gotten that far?
My advice is just to keep at it with your current technique, but try and get into contact with your sub-c along the way.  You'll get it eventually.
