I am saying it is not the community's job or responsibility. I am saying it is Apollo's and Adfeng's responsibility.
It is not Adfeng's, or Apollo's, fault that no one posts. You cannot expect a community to exist without the community. The community is responsible for its own existence.
More precisely, I do not post because I do not have anything that I feel like sharing with the OEC at large, and I do not frequently see posts that I feel like responding to. This is no more the fault of Adfeng or Apollo than anyone else who visits the site (including myself). That said, either of them could post something interesting that would make people want to post, but the same could be said of anyone else.
Also, not to be short with you, but if you give me some strung out BS answer that only barely touches on what I said, I am just going to ignore it.
Stolide that makes no sense because an online community can't exist without a website to exist on.
Your statement means that it is not Apollo's or Adfeng's responsibility to take care of the site that the framework exists on, so, by your reasoning, the community should pay hosting bills. If an online community is responsible for its own existence, and its existence depends on a website to be, then that means that the community should pay for hosting bills, but why should members pay or donate to something of old quality? Your response is unreasonable for taking care of a website. That is like me expecting the people who read my website to supply me with content for them to read, but if they could have already supplied me with the content, then there would be no point in coming to my website now would there? The logical course of events would be what is happening to happen and what happens in other communities to happen; the sites lose traffic and don't go anywhere due to poor direction. If you decide to run a website, the website is your responsibility. If you disagree, then, by your logic, members should be paying for the hosting through paid membership, but why would a person do that if there is nothing of quality to them which goes back to a webmaster's responsibility to make it attractive. Dress it up all you want, but the owners of the site are not being responsible for their own site. If a member has enough content to run their own website, then why not run your own website. It becomes unfeasible to then visit or even contribute to that particular site(
which is what has happened with you). To phrase it plainly, your solution to the problem is the problem, itself, so we will only get the same problem since the answer to the problem is more of what created the problem. It only results of in the acceleration of the problem.
I have been around the OEC for a long time, and I can tell you that one of the reasons why good people leave and stop contributing is due to being fed up with the
site and community owners. If Adfend and/or Apollo intend to do anything with the site, they are actually going to have to do something with the site, otherwise, it will probably die. Not to mention it sets a poor example. How can you motivate anyone to practice when you, yourself, can't take the time to work on your own site? That is like telling someone to go on a diet when you, yourself, are eating fried chicken every night.
Maybe we need some new articles.. Everyone knows about the basics.. Maybe add more stuff to train on, written by people who have advanced far. Like more advanced shielding methods (everyone can do the bubble), what to do in a person's mind. Maybe we need more about magick? It's energy there too. We should ask more in the faq section, if it will ever be answered.. And for the final note, EVERYONE needs to contribute to the forum.
I liked the first site, psiworld. It had a lot of good articles, but after this site started, it kinda died out.
I doubt that more articles would help things along. I think this is one of those areas where the more advanced you get, the more "someone else's way" won't work for you, so articles on advanced subjects are unnecessary.
As far as articles on magick go, that's never been this site's focus as far as I know. It took a long time for a magick section to appear on the forums, and I'm having doubts about how much even that contributed to the site.
As far as the FAQ section goes, no point in asking there unless you know it's something lots of people wonder about. Otherwise it's not an FAQ, but just a Q.
Requiring everybody's contribution is also pointless. If you don't have anything to say offline, you don't talk. Why should that be different online? It would just fill the forums with useless talk about nothing, IMHO.
If no one talks on a forum and no updates are added to the site, then wouldn't that mean the community is dead?
If you knew anything about what I've tried to do, then you would understand. I cannot force members to come to forum events like a chat or a seminar/lesson. I cannot force members to do anything. I am here to overlook the community and make sure things don't get too "heated up" so to speak, such as this thread.
I'm tired of your complaining. If you don't like the site, then you can leave. Don't lesson us all on how a "proper" website is maintained. I have tried in the past to get events together, but no one comes. You can't expect Apollo or I to be on all the time. Everyone has real lives. We have things we have to do.
Apollo is dealing with a lot with his life right now. He's still in college and so am I. He's the one who works on the website updates. I'm here to overview everything. If you want to see this site succeed, then stop ranting and start contributing to the community.
