Focal meditation, you don't really hear about it much on this forum so I decided to make a tutorial for it. I think it will be helpful for new people. As you know to truly to be able to use your abilities to the fullest you need to be able to focus at any moment.  Focal meditation is exactly that. It teaches you how to focus on a deeper level. Some people say it have a deeper meaning behind but considering this is a Psion Forum I cant go into detail about that.

 One of the main reasons to meditation daily is it helps you gain more control over your Psionic powers and allow you have more constant results. There are two different types of meditation there is void meditation and focal meditation. Void meditation is blanking your mind for an extended amount of time, in attempt to literally clear your mind from all thoughts or awareness on a single thing or concept. Focal meditation is when one attempt to have deep concentration on a single thing or concept for a certain amount of time.

Focal Meditation

There are many different ways of doing this but the most famous thing is focal meditation with a candle. If you can light the candle that's even better. To do this following exercise is to go in a dark room that is quiet and sit about five feet from the candle. Take a few deep breath to get started to calm your mind down. Relax your mind and body and simply just watch the flame.  Relax your eyes as well you don't want to strain them by looking at the flame. Clear all your thoughts, and if thoughts still come into your mind just passively let them go and do nothing but focus on the flame. Keep your awareness ONLY on the flame or the candle.

I suggest starting to do this daily for 10 minutes and slowly making your way to 30-60 minutes a day. If you find yourself getting distracted alot just relax and re focus on the candle. With time you will notice a difference in your mind and your Psionic abilities.  If by some chance you cant get to a candle, then just use anything. I personally use a water bottle crazy right? The whole point is to just focus on something and keep your awareness on it. It is the most important step into your progress, trust me.

I always wonder how people use meditation to solve problems and find various things about themselves out. Do you just focus on things like that instead of a candle, or is there a different method?

When I meditate I just ask myself different things I want to know and listen for my inner voice to provide an answer. Either that, or I receive images in my minds eye which I'll later have to interpret if I'm not being overly lazy.  Wink

Focal Meditation doesn't involve on deep things like that. But if you want to know its a different type of meditation and just by getting yourself in a deep meditation to ask those questions. Maybe  I should make a guide for that too.

I design a ritual based on bringing up the problem as a key portion of my mind. A lot of my attention goes towards the problem and manifests it within my consciousness. As a part of the ritual, the mind enters a trance like state. I then, immediately from that trance state meditate on the problem. Usually, the problems metamorphosizes into a nonproblem, or the solution becomes a seed in my mind. That seed will need aid in germinating, and this may consist of further rituals, and of course physical action in daily life.

Think of it as psychedelic therapy, save that one induces the altered states of consciousness through meditation and ritual, rather than various drugs.

I use many variaties of meditation techs from focal to void. Although I haven't done focal in like forever I do void a lot and visual meditation helps too. I imagine a picture and event in my head and follow it. It will relax you as long as you concentrate on that event and nothing else.
