I'm excited, so I decided to post this up. My Dad gave us a call this morning from Afghanistan. He gladly informed us that Osama has been caught, and is dead. I don't know the details, but CNN should be covering it some time today or tomorrow because he said they were there. I don't know when they killed him, but I'm just happy he's gone. Just thought I'd spread the news Edit: Just found out that he died a week ago, but they had to do DNA tests to make sure it was him.

Have doubts that this is true. Far as I'm concern, he might still in some CIA 'ghost' prison overseas.. And due to the nature of it all (CIA, secrecy involved, etc) , stopping this is going to take more work then just nailing the top leader of the organization he started.

Saddam Hussein is long dead. They hung him. You're probably thinking of him. Bin Laden was the person who conducted the plan to crash planes into the twin towers. I'm glad he's dead because my mother almost died that day.
@ClueLou it was a firefight. During the fight he was shot and killed, whether he took the shot or we did, idk. You'd have to ask the people that were there. Also yes, in a general sense it solved nothing other than informing the world once again that "If you mess with America, we'll kill you." Of course there will always be someone to take the place of anyone of power, but in all reality this is more of a sentimental issue than a political one. Me being from NYC, I have an emotional response to this; I'm glad he's dead.
And in order to avoid his death turning into a shrine, they'll bury him at sea. Also, in respect to the general religion in that area. He was in Pakistan, though. In a prominent area, living in a fortified mansion that had residence since 2003.

It was 11pm last night that my friend who I normally joke with messaged me and said, "Osama bin Laden was just killed!" And I said to her, "No way. Seriously?" And she said yes, and then I looked it up. I believe that this will be a major turning point for the war on terrorism. It may not seem like much, but it is a huge propaganda win for the United States, and a big morale loss for the terrorists.

Ever since I was 8 I've waited for this. Most kids that are like 13 maybe even through 16 don't really understand why this is such a major thing. Keep in mind, this is the guy that gave the Government no choice but to limit our freedoms in America, more noticeably in Airports. It was never like that until this guy wanted to destroy something. Everybody knows about 9/11 but not everyone knows who carried it out, or what really happened, even after we just killed him. Saddening.

That is the very reason that no one cares. Ten years have passed, and time dulls all sensations. If he had been caught and executed within three years of the attack, or if he had done something in addition to that and it was just as bad, I imagine that we would've treated him the same way the Russians treated Hitler's corpse. (As in, burrying him where everyone could walk over him every day, then digging him up years later, cremating his bones, and flushing the ashes down a military toilet.) Plus, kids are kids. Very few kids care about what's going on half way around the world, or within their own country, unless it effects them directly. I know I was about six or seven at the time and they had a thing at my school for it, but I didn't care. That said, I'm pleased he was caught after all this time, even though this seems like a political move from Obama to get back at Trump. XP It's the thought that counts, right? Honestly, it seems terrorism effects common sense the same way alcohol does, since they keep "loosing" and still attack the U.S.

Yeah, I wouldn't say "no one" cares, maybe just the ones you know of. You do make a good point, it's been a decade; that's why I care so much. Ever since childhood, I've had an interest in domestic affairs.
Lol, you think that the assassination of Osama was a political move to get back at Trump? When Obama started his campaign he said catching Osama was one of his priorities. I don't think Trump was involved in the months of preparation for this assignment, but I could be wrong. Trump could have been the one person they had hoped would affect the most.
Personally, I think it's a miscommunication. This has been going on before 9/11, and certain factors involved portray americans as oppressors.

I'm not saying "no one" cares. I was replying to your comment about how kids don't care. I'm sure that many people care, specifically those in New York. I do think that Obama's revealing it in the middle of Trump's show was the political move, not nessicarily the attack. Honestly, if Obama had been like, "Oh no! Trump PWNed me! I better go catch Osama to make myself look good!" then I would've wondered when children gained the right to run for president. XD It just seems oddly convenient that he did the attack so soon after the Birth Certificate....Thing (I could hardly call it a scandal ). If it took months to prepare, why not launch it a few weeks earlier?

You're funny.
I wonder if people think about how oddly convenient it was for me to go to the bathroom when my teacher announced she was going to go over the unit. I mean, I could have just went earlier but I guess I didn't have to use the bathroom earlier.
