Shin posted a link to a verticas article that started this train of thought in my head.  It theorizes that psi phenomena is basically soul energy, or a byproduct of the soul.
While I don't fully agree with this article, and I really don't agree with this article if I remember the wording correctly on what it describes is psi, let us consider it to be true, hypothetically, for the sake of this debate.  If psi entails using your soul "energy", is it ethical?  If psionic sparring or the like involves the destruction/alteration of another person's soul energy, is it ethical?

You are probably referring to dynamic psi (the stuff by kobok). If I recall correctly, the energy is a byproduct of the soul, but it is not the soul. If I recall correctly, it also holds that the soul cannot be destroyed.

I am inclined to think that Kobok would give a brief explanation of karma in the magickal sense (glorified cause and effect, not like the threefold law or anything) , and conclude that it is not precisely a matter of ethics.

If we are actually going to discuss ethics, then this will just turn into a debate about which ethical theory is correct. Ignoring that huge debate, with my present theory of ethics, whether or not it is soul energy is irrelevant. If you are sparring, then it is consensual, and therefore less likely to be immoral than other actions. (my theory does not allow a conclusion of what is moral or otherwise, but rather what is most likely to be immoral)

Do you have a link to the article? Before I can make a comment, I think I should read it.

http://forums.vsociety.net/index.php?board=124.0 has the articles regarding the paradigm that holds that psi is a product of the soul.
