I want to save a copy of psiworld containing all of its topics and posts. Is there a way to gather all of that information in a less time-consuming manner rather than to visit each post and topic, save a html file, then to repeat the whole process?
EDIT
Damnit. There's no web tool that I am finding that can copy and save massive amounts of information.
EDIT2
Well, this sucks. From what I've been looking at I have to be an administrator, or at least have access to thread tools. Even still I would only have the ability to copy a single thread. In other words, copying and saving all of the threads will still suck. Hm...I guess I'm going to need to rush through the process of saving some information from psi world. I think it was Apollo (?) who announced he would stop paying for psiworld to be kept up.

Well, I'm looking at the version on pro boards right now. There's a couple of somewhat interesting people I want to know a little bit more about, like Mr. Experiment. I'm sure psi world would offer me bunch of information on him, of course this is for educational purposes; he seems to be the type of guy who would have developed at least some minor control over his senses. As you might know, I am still in hot pursuit of my personal research, ha ha ha. Looking at all these individual threads though...Pain in the butt.

Are you referring to the proboards version of psiworld?  Or "thepsiworld.net"?  I don't manage the proboards version (or pay for it).  "Thepsiworld.net", I did pay for (and programmed it).  I said I wouldn't pay for the domain anymore....it was hosted on the same server as ShiftedPerspectives, so the cose wasn't for the server.

So will the forum version be up...forever? I don't get it Huh Does this mean the information, including all of the posts, will stay up there?
EDIT
By the way, I was referring to the forum if you didn't catch what I was saying.

Again, the proboards forum?  Or "thepsiworld.net" forums?

The proboards forum will stay up as long as...well.....as long as proboards wants it to.

"ThePsiWorld.net" forums have been down since ShiftedPerspectives started up.  I believe I have backups, but I'd rather not pull them out from the depths of my 13 terabytes of external harddrives.

Thanks. So far so good.
Just another question: do you think if I asked proboards nicely enough they might send me a copy of all of the posts from psi world forum?

Unfortunately, I do not think so.  They are a company that has far too many clients to adhere to every request.  Its worth a try though...what do you have to lose?

Most likely along with Proboards consenting to this, you would have to talk to JediKaren and let her allow Proboards to send you a whole thing of all the posts.

Urgh! Damn, that's going to require lots of steps...Hm, I already know JediKaren though. If I see that there is lots of beneficial information for me in the forum then I'll try to ask for a copy. I forget JediKarens email, but I think someone posted it right? I definitely remember seeing the topic, saying "JediKaren's email" or something like that.

Just get a site backup tool to do it for you...  It should work unless there are some restrictions or something...

Try Sitesucker.  It's donationware for mac and it worked great for me.

"SiteSucker is a Macintosh application that automatically downloads Web sites from the Internet. It does this by asynchronously copying the site's Web pages, images, backgrounds, movies, and other files to your local hard drive. Just enter a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), press return, and SiteSucker can download an entire Web site. "

BTW, it's uncrippled shareware <3 so it works normally without paying for it, although you have the option of giving donations.

If you don't have a mac, I actually had to look harder for this because there were so much more free windows programs that did this >.<  either way if you look they're there.

I didn't even know such tools existed! I only know of this one tool that does something similar, except it only visits pages and refreshes them (Spider refresher or something like that?). I have windows 7, so this might slightly suck...

Anyways, I appreciate the information a lot.
EDIT
Well, I now have a copy of pagesucker, a windows version, that is fully registered. Not sure if it is working, so I need to wait until pagesucker is done. I'll modify this post again to say if it worked or not.
EDIT2
OMG, I'm almost done with getting a pretty much "text only" copy of psiworld! The files it had discovered finally stopped around 11000.
