I did a lot of reading today and came across an article in which the writer makes a reference to healing the energy body's meridians after the severing of limbs. I was hoping someone would like to share any knowledge they have on this. I don't know a whole lot on the meridian system but it sounds like it would be a very complex procedure.

This is an interesting question. In traditional Chinese medicine, meridians are key points in your body's "energy circulatory system." My first though was, "oh yeah, just seal off the pathways to the missing meridian and you should be fine." But after I thought about it for a minute though, it seemed like it might be a bit more complicated. The Chinese conceptualization of a "circulatory system" for energy implies that the loss of part of the system might hinder flow through the whole. If you simply seal off the severed end, it might damage/impede that flow. On the other hand, if you simply reconnect the severed end directly into the system, it might change the properties of the flow in unforeseen ways.

Then I thought, "Hey, why not just re-create the meridian psionically?" If it is an energy pathway, you should be able to recreate the system through essentially using a construct. But then I thought, "What if the meridian isn't just a psionic construct? What if a meridian is actually some kind of physical/psionic transfer point that can't be recreated without the physical component?"

As morbid as it sounds, it kind of makes me want to find a psionicist with a missing limb so I can examine them.

That itch in the back of your mind telling you to learn? Tongue

I would guess that the system is also physical and without it you would die.

If you just sealed off the severed end, what I think of is a buildup like the body's way of healing blood vessels. Blood rushes to the damage and clots to prevent further damage. If the meridians can no longer flow, it would be like the clot getting to big, breaking off, and traveling to your heart and causing an infarction. In other words, it may cause a blockage in the system and prevent flow to the limb, which in turn would cause more problems. This is just a hypothesis though.

I think if you recreated the end of the meridian, it might cause more of a hole in the blood vessel that doesn't clot and would cause you to bleed out. Again, just another thought.
