I had a friend to whom I was teaching psionics, but one day he told me he couldn't do it any more because he was Christian and it was 'against his religion'. I'm not Christian, but I personally think that part of Christianity is absolute piffle. So only me... *sigh*

Hey I'm Christian and to my knowledge it's not against my religion. I mean there was a part in Revelations where it said at the end of the world, those who practiced magic would burn in hell for all eternity (don't mean to scare anyone, sorry), but I prayed to God about that and he seems supportive of it. When I pray for help I usually get it

So now God changes rules because you prayed to him and told him that you wanted to practice psionics? No comment

Well, theres me. A guy who I thought would believe me but doesn't, although he says visual evidence would convert him. Also, my best friend, doesn't believe. Some twins believe but they don't practice it, and they get creeped out when I talk about it involving them. A girl in my year though, particularly appeals in the energy part. She reckons that she can take 'negative' energy away from people. She does palm reading too, so its a little bit spiritual based I think. I'm gonna try to get her started. I had to laugh when she tried to remove the 'negative energy' out of my hand 'cause I sent a load of energy into her hands and she snatched them back real fast. ( she says she went dizzy, but I don't know if she really did...)

Please don't bash other beliefs. I understand completely where Meushiman is coming from, and I totally agree. I'm Christian also and God has seemed to approve of it. It's not that we prayed and told him to make it okay, it's because it was okay in the first place.
Anyways, I have about 3 people who practice psionics at my school. Or at least, used to and kind of gave up.

I grew up into Christianity, but I kinda steered away from religion as a whole after I did some thinking/reasoning about it on my own. I just don't like how it tends to shut people off from understanding new concepts and such. For example, "I could have been born into any of the religions, but just because I was born into this one, I have to believe that this belief system is the right one? How do I know if any are right if they all claim to be the correct way?" That's basically what went through my mind when I decided that something must be wrong with religion as a whole, so now I believe that the only true spiritual path is the one where a person is free to "gaze inward" and discover the truth. It's not that I think religion is wrong, I just believe that no single one is completely right, and that there are things about the spiritual path to be learned from them all.
To sum up my thoughts, I believe that the true spiritual path must offer freedom of exploration to the seeker (something not generally characteristic of "Religion" [look up the latin roots Re- and -Ligare]). People tend to fear what they don't understand, especially when they're told to fear it. It's easy to write strange occurrences off as "magic" or "witchcraft" instead of trying to understand why and how they happened.
Now all that aside, I don't see how using abilities that were already within oneself qualifies as magic (Humans are a highly evolved spiritual race, capable of much more than is generally known). Magic itself even sounds ridiculous seeing as it depicts the "unexplainable," which lends no actual information to a sentence.
I'll end this by saying, the one most sensible path for the human race as a whole is that which each human determines for themselves by listening to their own heart(soul); since everyone/thing is connected, self determination guided correctly by the soul should always lead one to the same universal truth. Okay I'm done, I'm sorry I typed way too much and also if I make little or no sense - I had to pause many times because I wanted to make sure I was typing my ideas clearly. Oh and I'm the only psi practitioner in my school as far as I know.

If we want to talk about religion, someone make a new topic. Otherwise talk about this one.
I may be able to get two more people to practice psionics

I think you'd be surprised how many people practice some form of energy manipulation. Many of them have a certain knack for blending into the background. I never realised this until I was experimenting with an "energetic sonar" type idea, sending waves of energy "out" to see if I got any form of echo back. I got many. Now I am privy to the knowledge (which I confirmed in conversation), that there are at least 15 people studying either magick or psionics in my school.

You'd have to have a set definition to what your asking. Plenty of people out here practice some sort of energetic/ psychic/ spiritual/ magickal art that some would and some would'nt consider psionics.
